Italy’s secret training video

Well it’s a day since Australia was ousted from the World Cup soccer, and I still don’t feel any better about the whole controversial referring decision at the end. I’ve been reading some different blogs and opinions around the place, and most people seem to be in agreement that Australia was robbed. I did find this little movie that will explain a lot :-

Maybe there’s a world cup soccer conspiracy that keeps out all but the chosen few countries? Maybe…..

Oh well, that soccer rubbish is now finished - as far as I’M concerned at least, and Australia can return to normality. Speaking of normality, it’s school holidays here. I’ve got mountains of work to do but guilt is making me feel that I need to drag the 3 resident kids out from behind their computers/playstations etc to see daylight. Yeah - they want to see a movie. Now, isn’t that just sort of swapping one screen for another?? There must be something better to do than that. I took a look at a Brisbane site - http://www.ourbrisbane.com/whatson/schoolholidays/ Well, I saw a couple of things on there that I thought might interest the kids. An athletics progam next week would be good for them, but at $240 per kid x 3 - errrr.. that’s a cool $720 I think the movies sound like a good option! Time to check out the guide I guess…..

Australia’s heart breaks for socceroos…

Last night, Australia’s soccer hopes in the World Cup, our first hope in DECADES, was stymied by Italy 1-0. Well to tell the truth, our hopes weren’t so much dashed by the Italians as by the referee of the game who, at the eleventh hour or the nil all game, awarded the Italians a free kick when one of their players fell over one of the Australian players. Well, it certainly LOOKED like the guy tripped over the Aussie and then did the big Hollywood fling to the ground to buy a penalty. *teeth gnash*.

You know, the things is…. I don’t normally watch soccer, I’m a union lover and league follower, but well, it IS the world cup, and Australia was there for the first time in 32 years. So, you know, I have been watching. Let me tell you, all these middle of the night games have turned my body clock on its head and I look dreadfully tired (wonder why?) but I have actually quite enjoyed watching the games. The refereeing in the tournament though has been … woeful in my opinion. I thought this was a big thing this soccer world cup - and yet, I’ve seen some of the strangest refereeing decisions and inconsistencies of any code I’ve ever seen in my life. This is a world class tournament?? Hmmmmmmm..

Oh well, the Socceroos put on a good show, and for their world ranking, totally excelled. Good game soccer, but if the world cup ref’ing is indicative of the game overall…. I think I’ll stick to watching rugby and league.

Now my mobile phone gets spam :(

Living a virtual life, my inbox if constantly inundated with spam… now it seems my mobile phone isn’t safe either. For fellow Australians, you get a call on your mobile from one of the numbers below, the phone only rings once or twice before hanging up. If you call the number back (becauase some people do phone back missed calls) you get a recorded message telling you you’ve won $40 worth of ringtones (or something like that) and to phone a 190 number. Of course you part with a sum of money once you get your phone bill….. The guys over at 4wisemonkeys.com have taken up the crusade against the marketing masterminds behind this little activity - so visit and bookmark their site for more info and updates:-
